The Ultimate Hair Maintenance Guide

Healthy styled waves on a Jolorah & Co. client

A luxury install deserves luxury care. Whether you're wearing tape-ins, K-tips, a sew-in, or a custom unit, how you care for your hair between appointments determines how long your investment lasts — and how healthy your natural hair stays underneath. This is the routine we teach every Jolorah & Co. client.

Washing: Less Is More

Wash 1–2 times per week with a sulfate-free shampoo. Focus the shampoo on your scalp, not the lengths, and always follow with a hydrating conditioner applied from mid-shaft to ends — never on the bonds, tape, or tracks.

Drying: Never Sleep on Wet Hair

Gently squeeze out excess water with a microfiber towel, then blow-dry the attachment area on low heat until fully dry. Wet bonds and wet wefts are fragile — drying them completely prevents slipping, matting, and mildew.

Brushing: The Right Tool, The Right Way

Use a loop brush or extension-safe brush 2–3 times a day. Start at the ends and work your way up, holding the roots to avoid tension. Never rip through tangles.

Nighttime Routine

Heat & Styling

Always use a heat protectant, keep tools under 350°F, and avoid direct heat on attachment points. Your extensions are premium human hair — they can handle styling, but they can't repair themselves like natural hair, so every degree of protection counts.

Product Rules

Golden rule: keep moisture in the lengths and product away from the attachments. That single habit prevents 90% of extension problems we see in the salon.

Keep Your Appointments

Move-ups and maintenance visits every 6–8 weeks aren't optional — they're what keeps your install seamless and your natural hair protected. Book your next maintenance before you leave the salon so it's already on the calendar.
